Regional anesthesia is a medical technique that numbs certain parts of the body, ensuring pain-free surgical procedures without making the patient unconscious. Unlike general anesthesia, which affects the entire body and results in unconsciousness, regional anesthesia affects a specific cluster of nerves, blocking sensation in a targeted area. Regional anesthesia has become increasingly popular because it is considered safer, has a faster recovery rate, and is suitable for various surgical procedures, particularly those involving the chest wall, upper extremities, abdomen, pelvis, and lower extremities.
